I bought my 1st box of these of these pencils (a box of 24 pencils) when they were 1st introduced. It wasn't difficult to fall in love with that box of pencils. They were everything that I wanted in that "other " brand of pencils. Those "other " pencils were very popular but having huge quality control issues: shattered cores, cores that were way off center and barrels that were literally split in half, to just name a few problems. So I had quit using that "other brands and was searching for a replacement set. Chromaflow pencils, at that time, seemed like they might be the pencils that I was looking for. Two days ago I finally received my box of 72 pencils. I was so excited.mand started to swatch them just to see how these gorgeous looking pencils would measure up. After only swatching a couple of pencils, I started having problems with pencils that were off center. My next problem was with pencils that had pigment that laid down in streaks. They would have dark streaks in some pencils would have areas that had streaks with with a completely different color or no color at all. Wow! Some streaks couldn't even be camouflaged with a few more layers of pencils because they continued to lay down more streaks in the other layers. What a mess! How did we get from some amazing pencils to some very inconsistent pigment and off center cores? I don't get it! The Derwent company could easily have taken that huge market away from those "other " wax based pencils that have some of the worst quality control on the market. It was exciting to see another brand of pencils jump in with both feet! But it seems to me that they missed the mark by miles. I actually have numerous other Derwent pencil sets and love them. Unfortunately, there new box of Chromaflow pencils will probably never get much further than the box that they were shipped in. Two thumbs down on these pencils from me.
