First, no remote control. That's the initial downside. Second, you have to download the app on your phone, sign up for an account, provide your Wi-Fi password and email, and after all that, it still doesn't find the light bar. Tried 6 times to connect, all failed. Also, even if I make it work, you have to control it with your phone. Some spend all day looking at their phones, but others prefer not to bend their necks and look at their phones all day, let alone shifting screens to find an app that works with them turn the lights on and off. I figured I could just use it as a string of white LEDs, plug it in and use it, but no, it cycles through white levels every few minutes. It also "listens" so it can "hop" music, so beware of other hearing aids in your house. In summary, this ONLY works with your phone over your 2.4Ghz WiFi, and if you can't connect it over WiFi, it's useless. If it was Bluetooth I would understand. and it would be less intrusive, but why Wi-Fi? Do you really need to control the LED string when you leave the house? I say NO to that.
