You can power it from USB power sources. I tried using it with a portable charger/power bank separate from Follow and it didn't work. However, it works with Follow for what it was made for. I plugged this into my iMac and got a warning saying it was using too much power and disabled my wireless devices to save power while in use. FYI it's a bright light but it does have its quirks in terms of build quality, cheap materials and labels on the adapter slot to fit a camera, phone, GoPro etc. It actually has a couple of white balance options that I found amazing. They also have a dimmer control. This is not professional gear so keep that in mind. It is not fixed. However, it serves a purpose. I ended up breaking the swivel mount but as I said these are poor quality materials. I would like to point out that when using it with Follow, there will be a reset issue or something. It seems that you have to plug it in and turn it on in a certain way for everything to work properly. I hope this is user error, but this happens all the time. I suggest being careful. And finally, when you adjust the brightness, you may hear a high-frequency sound coming from the device, which can be very annoying. It won't go away until you're either fully light or fully dark. It distracts me a lot. You largely get what you pay for.
