Does not work on 8K with iMac 2020 / Samsung Q900b

I bought this in the optimistic hope that it would run on my 2020 27" iMac with AMD Radeon Pro 5700 8GB for Samsung 55 Q900b at 8K resolution. The maximum settings allowed were 3840 x 2160 HDR, 8K was not shown as an option. The same HDMI cable/port for a PC with an Nvidia 3XXX card works at 8K, so I know it's not an HDMI cable/port/Q900b.HP Specter. Laptop - maximum resolution 4K HDR. If you get 8K with this adapter, please post your settings.

Pros

8K RESOLUTION: 1 x HDMI 2.1 supports 7680 x 4320 at 60 Hz and 3840 x 2160 at 120 Hz with DSC function. HDMI 2.1 also supports 7680 x 4320 at 30Hz and is backward compatible with 4K without DSC.
