Review on Enhanced Cooling Case for Raspberry Pi 4 Model B – Geekworm Armor Case with Dual Fan, Aluminum Alloy Construction for Effective Passive Cooling by Scott Reid

I just received my case this week and can confirm that cases are still being processed with the spacing issue. With some pressure I managed to stick the thermal pads on both sides, but after less than an hour the pads came loose and the Pi started to heat up quickly. Combining the pads with some Arctic Silver solved the problem, but I can file down the case for a tighter fit. It's a good case, but it's a bit misleading. The fans are mounted so low on the heatsink that very little air flows through the vertical bars. Additionally, more than half of the top ducts (which run parallel to the fan) don't allow air to flow from the fans at all. The underside is designed as a heat sink, but doesn't make contact with any surfaces to dissipate heat (and the through-bolts don't conduct much heat away from the top). Holes drilled in the fins to the bottom of the fan (radial instead of perpendicular) make a big difference, as does the extra space between the fans and the heatsink. The additional heat pipe between the top and bottom plates also makes this bottom plate more than just decorative. (Although putting it on my Coral stick does some good.) Other than that, this is a very good case/mount that's significantly better than traditional heatsinks. Fans are of limited value, so I can recommend the fanless version for more cooling surface. But overall I'm happy with the purchase.
