I have owned silicon clamshell potholders for more than a decade. They are great. When my 13-year-old grandchild, who has developed a keen interest in baking during the pandemic, was burned rather badly using an old potholder that I recognized as one my mother made centuries ago, I looked to provide my daughter's family with a nice set of silicone potholders to protect them. These looked good, so I ordered them. The clamshell potholders are tiny compared to the blue ones I've had for a long time. They are also THIN silicone, not really suitable for potholders. The child has already been burned again using them. The large mitts are awkwardly proportioned for a person with fingers that are incredibly long (like 7+ inches), leaving most of us with a couple of inches flopping at the end of the mitt once our thumb is in that slot. This makes holding anything rather difficult. These are the WORST potholders I've ever encountered. I've now ceded my old blue silicon clamshells to them in apology for giving them these dreadfully poor excuses for potholders.
