Review on 📻 Black Baofeng BF-A58 Radio by Ha Joon Bong ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not perfect quality, there is a small defect.

I took 2 pieces in Hong Kong. I did not disclose the range, so far the regular one is enough. The quality is at the level of expectations from Chinese products: that is, how lucky. For example, I have one walkie-talkie that keeps the battery for a long time, and the second one, even in the off (!) state, puts it down for 5 days (it's the walkie-talkie, I changed the batteries in places - the same thing). In general, the impression is strange: it did not receive the expected security (see above), but otherwise it is the same as the UV-5R (which is cheaper, smaller and lighter). If you take it for everyday communication, then I would recommend Retevis RT-628 - very cheap and small, but oddly enough, the range is almost the same as these Baofeng (the difference is within 20%).

Pros
  • Excellent price. Comfortable case, fits well in the hand. Scanner of all ranges. Reception is not fantastic, but normal for a Chinese walkie-talkie. The flashlight seemed like an extra feature, but it will come in handy a couple of times.
Cons
  • There is no claimed water resistance: it is similar to IP54, but not IP67. Firstly, on the rear open contacts of the battery - its voltage (we regretted inserting a diode). I lowered the radio into the sea for a few seconds - the battery, obviously, immediately sat down in salt water. In fresh water it can hold for some time, but in the mud it will also quickly sit down. Secondly, the cases of many copies are not so airtight (but this is a lottery). I completely immersed mine in water for 30 minutes - then I took it apart and poured it from the inside with a jet. The leak seems to be in the area of the headset jack (although the cap is screwed tightly). I washed it, dried it, put it back together - everything works, but it’s not suitable for use in reservoirs.
