I had a smaller Fuji document scanner that worked fine until it started jamming. Almost two years later it's time for a new one. I chose Plustek because of the reviews. I don't know what your needs are, but I have business matters. I need to scan low res photos from the 70's-90's to register with the copyright office. Much faster than scanning my negatives and slides. My Fuji was acceptable in this regard. The resolution is not high enough to produce a salable copy that is acceptable for on-screen display. Plustek's MAC software is difficult to navigate. It scans blank pages in PDF files. My Fuji scanner does not. You left it on duplex and it skipped blank pages. Saves time and disk space. Perfectly exposed color or black and white images are too dark and high in contrast and often look sunny. My work is professional quality, my Canon flatbed scanner also produces good results and high resolution. I lost important tax documents because I forgot to change the file name. My Fuji only added 1 or 2 to the document and didn't overwrite the last scanned document with the same name. The papers went straight to the shredder, so all was lost. If you load a dozen papers and the paper is jammed, you cannot save or view items that have already been scanned. Nothing is saved. That didn't happen with Fuji. Not enough characters for the title. This is VERY Mac-unlike and I should add the title in a moment. Too much time. We should be able to write in the "FILENAME" area instead of having to activate the popup to put it in a tiny box that doesn't even contain all of our characters. I've also had problems when I've scanned at least 10 documents that it suddenly crashes without scanning them all. Sometimes the pop-up menu with additional fields appears on the right, sometimes on the left. This is real pain. I also didn't enjoy playing Guess the Buttons on Plustek. MANY people I know, myself included, are really fed up with paperwork and prefer to have everything neatly digitized and ready to go. Website. This is also important if you are in a flooded area. It's a good idea to digitize your documents and encrypt them on a secure external drive away from the office, as is a cloud service that gives you at least two layers of security. I hope more companies make better products for this task. I wanted to love Plustek but my last email of July 30th detailing all the issues I was having trouble with went unanswered.
