I bought several of these at retail and sent them back because they were so delicate they were almost unusable. If a live conductor was within a foot, they gave a signal. Open the junction box and if there was a hot wire in it they would give a signal no matter what wire it was passed through. It has adjustable sensitivity and when set correctly it tells you if it's hot or neutral or hot and the foot of the switch. It seems very well made and runs on AAA batteries instead of button batteries. Very happy with it so far. Hope it holds up well in the future.
