Two thousand miles of lugging through rain, snow and sun (all in August!). They worked great as a handlebar mount on a Harley Heriatge Classic on a parked Kendon trailer. Still looks new and should be good for many other trips. They don't have ratchets. Rather, they have locking lips that grip the strap to secure it. You tighten the straps with muscle power, and the ratchet teeth lock the strap. There is a loop at the end that you can pull. Be sure to compress the bike's shock absorbers as much as possible, otherwise they may come loose if the bike bounces.
