This radio + flashlight is a good helper in an emergency. It works as described and the radio sound is clear. Solar and manual charging methods are great when there is no electricity. The manual crank requires a lot of usage time per start time (1 minute start provides 15 to 20 minutes of radio). Considering the amount of time I use in non-emergency situations and how easy the handle is to use, I've never had to charge it from the mains. Note that the crank is a small knob that should be rotated in an 8 inch diameter circle at 2.1-2.5 revolutions per second to charge properly. It's not the most ergonomic pen. This should be easy for most people, but it may be difficult for the elderly or injured to perform the twist. A solar charger is a good fallback, but it charges slower than it cranks. In non-emergencies this is a great general purpose flashlight.
