As a tech savvy but non-tech savvy person, this access point was extremely easy to set up and offers exceptional range and speed. Since I don't currently have any devices that support AC wireless, I saved $ by not purchasing the AC version of this product. However, I paid more for the Pro version to get 5GHz compared to cheaper Ubiquiti hotspots. Advantages: - Easy installation. For Power Over Ethernet (POE) only a network cable needs to be connected from the router/switch to the desired location. The device comes with a POE injector, so I didn't have to buy a separate product or upgrade my network switch to use POE capabilities. As an access point (instead of a wireless router) it didn't require any additional configuration to work properly with it. my Google Fiber network box (router). I have turned off the WiFi on my Google network box since purchasing the Ubiquiti hotspot to provide a stronger signal in the main part of my house. High Speeds: Although I'm not an AP in the AC area, I still usually get 100-150m/s internet speed through this router (Google Fiber bandwidth 1 gig to the house). - Strong Signal/Long Range: This unit is on the top floor in the central hallway on the wall and I get full signal strength "bands" on my phones and laptops in every room or basement of my house. - Attractive design: mounted on the wall with a network cable running through the wall cavity, this device is unobtrusive and looks like a smoke detector - Reasonable price: this access point is priced competitively with most consumer-grade wireless routers that are not designed for it are permanent installations and do not provide such a strong signal. The LED display shows the status of the device. It's very bright in a dark room but can be turned off via the configuration software. Cons (had to think hard to figure that one out): - The LED can only be turned on or off. I want it not to turn on unless there is a problem, then I want it to blink/solid red. Of course, the green status indicator shows that it has power and is transmitting, but the LED ring is brighter than the brightest night light when it's on. The software is relatively easy to use and will help you accept and set up a new hotspot and wireless network, not the most intuitive and I usually look for where to change the various settings. You must have a local program installed on your computer, ideally it can be controlled via a full web interface.
