Install this filter with the arrow on the filter DOWN first! If you are using a genuine Toyota cabin air filter, the arrow should point UP. I'm not sure why Toyota put an arrow on their filter to indicate what is 'up', all other aftermarket filters use an arrow to indicate airflow direction. With the 5th generation 4Runner, the air flows from TOP TO DOWN! Install with DOWN arrow. Okay I did my duty of care lol. I've been using these filters for 2 years now, I change them twice a year, once in spring, once in fall. Never had a problem and keeps the cabin air fresh. No problems with odors from heating or air conditioning. This is a good "subscribe and save" clause! Also, when ordering this filter do not order anything heavy or bulky from Revain at the same time, it may be packed in the same box and it may be damaged during shipping.
