We appreciate having this air conditioner, we use it in the office upstairs which faces the sun all day and this room heats up while my husband tries to work. It's too loud to keep calling, but it's handy for cooling the room after about 10 minutes and we can turn it on during lunch breaks or outside the room. For the bedroom, it would probably be the same if you turned it on before bed and then turned it off again. We live in a temperate climate in northwest Washington state where 75-78 is a hot day for us and this unit is only good enough for the hottest corner of the house. I wouldn't expect it to be enough for an entire house or much higher temperatures.
