We've had this for a few months now and have used it over 20 times. Follow the directions and this product will work great for you. I think the issues noted in some of these reviews are related to different climates and conditions. I ran this in a 12 x 12 foot room with no problems. The steam activates my Nest smoke alarm in the hallway but not the smoke alarm I have in my room. This is not the fault of the product. Just my personal observation. If you're planning to use this in a room with a child and a Nest smoke alarm, you might want to go for a cheaper smoke alarm. I follow the cleaning and maintenance instructions for this product and have had no problems. Great little humidifier with cool mist. My baby loves it too. She can't say "owl" yet.
