Review on Cutting-Edge HYCC MX 3K Laboratory Magnetic Aluminium: Unleashing Precision and Efficiency by John Ghattamaraju

Temperature control? Why did the review ask me about this if it's not a feature?

I have mixed feelings about this pick. I wanted an inexpensive device and this, along with another very similar device, fitted the bill perfectly. I did a lot of reading and comparing the two (the other has a square top, about the same price) and there were loads of conflicting reviews - that's a mixed review in itself. The device that arrived at my doorstep has no functional issues as some people have put it, but their experience speaks volumes in terms of the manufacturer's quality control process, so I guess I just got lucky. I've been using my device for about a month now with no problems, except for one thing - its magnet is terribly weak and doesn't hold 2" stirrers properly. If I don't really need a good rotation or don't care about viscosity, then this particular model supports moving from 250ml to 750ml of solution. But I wouldn't really call it *stirring* if there's more than 250ml to 500ml of solution. If you really need to mix this up. In fact, I would recommend spending at least $20 or $30 more and then not worrying about choosing between 1" and 2" stirrers or mixing more than 1000ml of solution, which will be very difficult with this device . What if you just want to have about 500mL of water moving around in a beaker, Erlenmeyer or Florence flask with a 1" stirrer then you should (probably) be fine. Anything else and you'll hear the bar rattling and dancing like a cat on a hot roof for five minutes, which is just super annoying. than real laboratory equipment. Functional but not great.

Pros
  • 2 year warranty
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
