Worked as expected right out of the box. After a period of storage, when the stirrer was held on the plate by magnetic force, the device worked with reduced performance and grinding noises. Upon opening it, I found that the adhesive securing the internal magnets to their rotating platform had failed. on one hand, and the gravitational pull of the stirrer pulled an internal magnet out of its socket, and then it scraped the bottom of the plate from the inside. I have mixed feelings about this pick. I wanted an inexpensive device and this, along with another very similar device, fitted the bill perfectly. I did a lot of reading and comparing the two (the other has a square top, about the same price) and there were loads of conflicting reviews - that's a mixed review in itself.
