I have arthritis in my hands which makes grinding a painful task. The alligator is a great tool that makes cooking quick and easy. and painless. It works by simply pressing the device. It's worth the price as this unit is made from heavy duty steel and won't break or tear like my other plastic shredders. I need to cut veggies/fruit into chunks that fit on the chopping rack, but the result is perfectly sized chunks that take very little time to cook. Although I haven't used this product in a while, it easily slices both soft and hard veggies including garlic, ginger and mushrooms (make sure the open side of the cap is facing up and slice the stalks in separately the machine). very simple as the gratings can be easily removed and the two piece unit can be easily disassembled and reassembled. Everything can be rinsed under the tap and the unit is a great addition to my countertop without taking up much space. I highly recommend this product if you want to save time in the kitchen, if you have arthritis like me, if you want evenly and quickly cut vegetables, and it's easy and safe to work even with children (as long as they don't get their hands under the grate lay and do not press).
