Uneven thickness with multiple strands

yarn with beautiful color and texture. It's warm and soft. BUT the skeins are small so multiple skeins will be needed for most projects. Unfortunately, the thickness of the yarn is not constant. I knit a scarf with it, and the second half of the scarf is noticeably different in thickness. Given that 2 skeins cost about $50 (total), I'm not happy.
