My 16 year old Lhasa Apso is stiff and needs something I can put on and take off easily. I love that I don't have to put his legs through the armholes or pull anything over his head. This poncho is well made. I chose the blue variant. It doesn't feel stiff or tingly, which is important to me. It curls up with him as he curls up to sleep. My dog is about 18 pounds and wears medium sized clothes. The size chart was just right for us. I was worried the velcro would be bulky or irritate his neck/stomach but the design seems good. The velcro on the belly does not need to be tightened to keep everything in place. I like that I can let it hang a bit so it should be even more comfortable. In terms of design, the poncho doesn't run the risk of getting wet (or pooping). It was a problem. If you've ever had a problem with something, then you know what I'm talking about. If your pet looks good in a sweater, this poncho should be no exception. In terms of weight or warmth, this poncho is lighter than a sweater and not too heavy for the space. On the other hand, I live in Denver. If I lived in the south it would probably be a heavy outer coat. :) My dog will wear it both indoors and outdoors. I understand why this poncho has such great reviews. Haven't washed it yet but so far so good. I'm glad I bought this instead of a more traditional sweater or fleece.
