My wife and I have both gaming PCs and Xbox Ones that are hardwired, so I was looking for an affordable gigabit router. This one fit the bill and couldn't have been better for the price. Wi-Fi is really only used for our phones, which seems like a good thing. The range isn't that great, our house isn't that big, and my phone shows a bar or two just a few rooms away from the router. Speed over the wire is excellent, better than using wired plugs on the modem for the router, but over Wi-Fi it's defiant. absence. Just watch Facebook videos on our phones before bed, and stuttering is common when loading videos and messages. I can't imagine if we would try to do something more intense. I haven't tried playing over Wi-Fi or anything else, but I don't know if I trust him at the moment and don't really plan to find out. The app to manage it is a cool trick, even if it's pretty slow to load or do anything. But it works, although you have to know that you need a CD drive to set up this router. As it appears. stupid. Who uses a CD drive anymore? I have one on my desktop, but that was an afterthought. You really just need a cheap USB stick or something to install the app. TL; DR: Great wired router, but Wi-Fi seemed to be added too late.
