I far prefer this Kayano model 25

I've been wearing Gel Kayanos for years now and feel like I'm speaking from pretty good experience. I prefer this Kayano to the new Kayano 25 which has been redesigned. There are two reasons for this: 1) The Kayano 23 (this one) has more midfoot gel pads than the Kayano 25. This shoe has two visible gel pads on the outer midfoot, while the Kayano 25 has one midfoot gel pad. I usually strike with the heel and then roll over the outer metatarsal and return inward to the toe. So I need heel, midfoot and toe cushioning. The 23 feels more comfortable than the 25.2) The Kayano 23 has a narrower toe box than the Kayano 25. While some people like the wider toe box, I dislike it because I find my feet move too much in the Kayano 25 .which leads to less stability when running. My normal wide foot stays stuck on the Kayano 23 and doesn't slip, which I like better. I will continue to buy "old" Kayanos as long as they are available. I don't think the new Kayano 25 is any better; I think it's less plush and less fitting.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Not the best
