Mirror DVR with some problems

I am generally a supporter of mirror DVRs. Easy to install, hang securely without fear of falling off, unlike suction cup mounts, easy to remove, unlike tape mounts, large touch screen, and a rear camera that lets you see behind you even with a heavy load. that the built-in rear camera is not mirrored by default, so objects (e.g. a car in an adjacent lane) that you see to the left of the display are actually to your right. In the settings there is an option to get the image on the back in the right orientation. Another minor issue is that the camera has a GPS module but does not include a mph/km/h switch. If you drive over 100 km/h, the third digit "h" will slide out of the frame and the speed will be displayed as "100 km/h". Videos are recorded in .ts format in h264 codec at 12 Mbps for the front camera and 7 Mbps for the rear camera, which not all media players can play. My VLC player installation had problems playing videos, but I was able to play them with MPC-HC player. The video quality is not bad, but nothing special, normal for this price range. While the video quality isn't great, 1080p is the minimum resolution, so you don't have the option to lower the bitrate if you have a slower or smaller SD card, or if you just want to keep flashback for a few more months.

  • Smart Rearview Mirror
Cons
