I ordered this based on the photo alone thinking I'd get a roll of denim so I was surprised at first. It's more like cotton balls or cotton balls in a big roll. It arrived in a plain (big) box but there was no plastic wrapping for the cotton. This wasn't a problem with what I received, but I could see how it might be if the box hasn't been used for a long time or has suffered any kind of damage. The cotton is odorless and easy to pull into the desired section. I've found it useful for padding, cleaning my nails and face, or the spaces between items I wanted to protect. It is soft and pleasant to the touch. Not faux cotton like the cotton balls in the store so it has texture but it's good in every way.
