Bought this as a cheap replacement for the original locks in my 1969 Mustang. They seemed to work fine when first installed. The key was smooth and the locking mechanism worked well. However, when I left the house for the first time, I found that it is very easy to get the keyhole stuck so far that sometimes (actually almost always) you can't even get the key in. No amount of graphite or dry lubricant can fix this. I don't want to be locked in a car because my door locks are of poor quality and I can't even put a key in them. If you manage to insert the key, the locking mechanism is working properly. The problem I found was a flimsy guard plate that had to fold back when the key was inserted. It seems to twist and jam and it's almost impossible to straighten it out. This was just my experience, others may be different but I am going to buy a new set of door locks for my car. This experience validated the old adage, "You get what you pay for."
