Review on Gates 33878 180F 82C Thermostat by Mark Powell
Disappointed with the thermostat, don't know if this part is original from "Gates "
The thermostat has no markings on the body such as part number, manufacturer's logo or opening temperature. Without rubber ring. Also, there is no wobbling valve like on the stock thermostat (I think that's important for Montero). The part number is only listed on unsealed Gates boxes. One can only guess if this is a genuine piece from "Gates" or a fake cheap tripod from the "Gates" package. Disappointed with the purchase of the thermostat, I don't know if this part is a Gates original.
