As many other customers have noted, the lowest speed is too high; and almost the same as the highest speed. In fact, this is a single speed mixer. When you turn it off, especially if you're trying to turn it off quickly because your ingredients are splashing all over the kitchen, the switch tends to move from "off" to "turbo" so it keeps running and splashing. Mine broke after two uses. He suddenly passed out in the middle of a load of cookie dough without warning. I won't write "you get what you pay for" because you get a lot less with this blender. My previous blender was the cheapest Black and Decker that still had a usable low speed and lasted about 20 years.
