So used to minimal shoes I love the Merrill Trail Glove for short to medium distances. I've wanted something for longer runs for a long time and a friend of mine mentioned that he tried the Altras and liked the zero height and wide toe box. I have quite a wide foot so I usually take a 9 to accommodate the width, although the length ends up being a bit longer. That's why I ordered 8.5 for them. Perfect length but I was concerned about the midfoot where the tongue connects. It was tight in there and I was afraid that on long runs it would be a pressure point if my foot started to swell. So today I put them on and took them on a 20 mile test run. All in all a great experience and no issues with the fit. No hot spots and the width didn't bother me at all. I look forward to more kilometers. Unless you're used to hitting them barefoot or with your forefoot, it's probably best not to take them 20 miles the first time. Happy running!
