Review on πŸ“ High-Quality Raspberry Touchscreen: ELECROW 1024X600 7" IPS Portable Touch Display by Shane Duman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

good color; good grade

This monitor is well made. The board is clean and uncluttered, and I see no reason why there could be physical issues with devices or connectors. The monitor glass is transparent and well fixed. The monitor also works well. The images are bright, sharp and clear as you can see in my attached photos. (Ignore the train model under glass on my coffee table.) Capacitive touch worked great for me when I switched to a fresh install of Raspberry Pi OS Bullseye on a Raspberry Pi 3B. Clicking on the "Next" buttons with the index finger was registered correctly every time. Once inside the operating system, "clicking" on menu items with the index finger worked fine again. I needed to make changes to the config.txt file before installing. If you are using Raspberry Pi OS, don't miss the necessary HDMI configuration changes. The monitor comes with a cable set to connect to the processor (HDMI and USB-C) and to the power supply (USB-C). There's even an HDMI to HDMI micro converter in case you're connecting to a Pi Zero or Pi 400. You can connect pretty much anything without resorting to missing ports or cables. There are mounting points on the back of the board for connecting a standard size Pi and for connecting a Pi Zero. It's very nice and I was planning to use this feature. My only nit is on me. The product description clearly states that the HDMI and USB-C ports are on the side. In my photo of the system to be updated, you can see that the three attached cables are sticking out to the far left. My plan was to mount this monitor in a frame (wood or acrylic) with a cutout the size of the monitor and the outside of the frame just slightly larger. Since the cables are sticking out too far, I had to make the left side of my frame about 2 inches wide to accommodate the stiff ends of the cables. This situation messed up my design plans, but then again, it's about me. Maybe I can think of something nice. I've seen monitors with the ports pushed back from the edge, but not this one. In general, the monitor works as it should. The picture quality is good, the capacitive touch works. The build quality of the monitor itself is solid, I recommend it.
