Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ TYC 2481 Radiator: Compatible with 2002-2005 Jeep Liberty by John Lewis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Close duplicate but not exact.

The product arrived on time with a few holes in the box because the radiator was moving inside, but the radiator itself was attached to a cardboard box in a large hollow box, so movement was somewhat restricted . Not the best packaging but the heatsink wasn't damaged in my opinion so I think it was adequate. The cooler itself is made in China. I guess not very unexpected but I have an aversion to Chinese products. So if I had known about it beforehand, I might have made a different choice. The fit was pretty good, but not exact. I had to make a few cuts in the rubber plugs on both sides of the radiator to accommodate the various brackets on the underside where the A/C condenser clips are to allow the clips to go through. This radiator appears to have been redesigned somewhat to fit more than one model year, or possibly as a result of a mid-year production change at the Jeep factory. There are threaded metal inserts that my old cooler didn't have and were unnecessary on my Liberty. It's fine, but you can't remove the rubber pad without removing the entire front bumper cover. Therefore cutting the rubber with big hands is quite difficult as the space you have to reach with a razor is quite limited. My cuts were a bit jagged, but they're completely hidden behind the air conditioning condenser once reinstalled. At this point it seems unbelievable that the cuts could have an impact on the performance of the cooling system or other functions of the car, so I'm not worried about that. Perhaps 10 to 15 minutes of additional installation time will suffice. Be careful not to cut anything you don't want to cut, or yourself, and be careful not to drop the knife between the grill and the cooler. If it wasn't for that I might have given 5 stars. The new radiator hasn't been fitted all day so can't comment on durability but it doesn't have coolant spurting out of a large crack in the side like the old one. one did, so I'd say it's a very nice improvement.

Pros
  • A lot of positive emotions
Cons
  • No execution
