Review on Chisel Wooden Engraving Knife Material by John Bailey

Revainrating 3 out of 5

At least they're sharp

The quality of the chisels themselves is normal. But they are very light. You feel almost weightless. What I don't really like is that I prefer a bit of weight to my tools. I was planning to use them to do woodcuts but few of them fit the roll with the edges they have now. And the edges are razor sharp and quite hard. they hold up well. I'm just disappointed that they aren't better. The vanes are pretty small and the V notch isn't small enough to do what I need it to. The lid of the box was also badly deformed. It won't sit straight. And a box from the same light cheap unpainted linden. For over a hundred dollars I would have expected more. Oh, and there aren't any brackets or fittings in the box, so the tools hang around. And you have to flatten them completely in order for them to fit in the box, which is a problem as they rub and move around each other when you try to flatten them. I'll probably just drop the box.

Pros
  • Hand tools
Cons
  • Out of fashion
