Review on 🖨️ IvernTech Linear Carriage Printing Machine by Bret Wong

Ordered 2 for my 3D printer. one hardly moved, even in an upright position. the other moved and got stuck in the middle, then moved again when shaken. I was less than thrilled. The consensus on the internet was "you get what you pay for" and "cheap Chinese splints will never work". However, I didn't want to just give up and return them without trying to fix them. I've tried spraying them with liquid lube from a wrench, it helped very, very little. I watched a video of someone taking the rails apart, filling them with a solution of alcohol and water, reassembling them, and re-lubricating them. The complaint here was that they were "stuffed" from the factory and needed better lubrication. I tried this and then applied "super lube". It did not work. I finally found a video of a random kid on YouTube. He replaced the bearings at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015RKOZ7G/ and also claimed that it turned his barely moving rails into smooth ones. I just watched the previous cleaning video and since it didn't help I was skeptical but they cost $8 so I figured why not. I just finished the first rail, applied some "Super Lube" and now it moves to one side or the other at the slightest tilt. (Note: if you do this, the part mentioned above has 100 bearings, you need 33 on each side of the bottom bracket, and there will be a slight gap). So why 3 stars? what's the point The bottom line is that the internet consensus is largely correct. When it comes to rails, there really is no middle ground. There are expensive ones that work very well and come out of the box, and everything else is pretty bad. However, they are very cheap and can be repaired with little investment. 8€, a little patience, clean and re-grease, and you already have a reliable linear guide. If you're looking for a cheap, good solution (albeit one that requires some work), this is it. If you want a turnkey solution, you have to be prepared to pay a lot more.
