Took up a little more room than my classic 2 liter camelbak with just the top and bottom pack. In addition to extra water, I can now fit a first aid kit, lunch and a light baselayer in the outside of my bag. The overall footprint doesn't seem much larger, and I can handle a little more on day hikes without gaining much weight. I haven't had any of the leaks that other people have complained about and I'm impressed with how easy the lid is to unscrew and the filling process in general. It's better than my old block day and night.
