I bought this in part to use in building my system as my motherboard doesn't have a built in power switch. I ended up plugging it in for permanent use and I really like it. My computer is a few feet from where I sit, so having the power button nearby really helped (and I use it to sleep). The blue LED on the power ring (around the power button) isn't TOO bright, I can live with that. In any case, it is easy to find in a dark room. And you don't have to connect everything, so if the LED bothers you, you can turn that part off. The small silver bar below the input ring is the reset button. It is tiny and slightly recessed. To use it you need to press it more with your fingernail. On the plus side, however, it makes it harder to accidentally press the button. The cable is about 4 feet long from the back of your computer, which is sufficient for my use. and red plastic.
