The dimensions were spot on. There was no need to trim. This is placed under a thin area rug. The carpet and pad look all of a piece. The pad is sturdy, easy to put down and stays put due to the slightly rough undercoat.The thickness adds wonderful padding without becoming spongy under foot. We placed this pad under our kitchen rug for additional comfort on aging joints for a cook who likes to cook and bake for extended periods of time. Our Newfoundland's like it too.This is our second rug pad from this company. We purchased the first one several years ago for our living room. That room has a lot of traffic and big dogs along with tables and furniture. The pad is as nice today as it was the day we placed it.I've been very pleased with our purchases from this company.
