To clarify, here are my PC specifications and Internet speed: PC: i5 processor, 4 GB DDR3 RAM. Internet: 20 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up I bought this to stream games on my Wii U. It works well and is even compatible with consoles that don't get power through HDMI. I used it exactly once on my original Wii and the quality was terrible (360p, 20fps with no streaming; TONS of frames dropped when streaming haha). But that's only because it wasn't connected to HDMI. I knew this was happening. I previously had an HDPVR Hauppauge and the quality was potato lol. With my Wii U it COULD stream 480p at 30fps at best before crashing due to my terrible internet speed. It is usually upscaled to 360p at 20fps. But that's only because I have terrible internet speed. If you can't download at least 10Mbps, DO NOT expect quality above 480 when streaming in general, especially with Elgato. I can't say this enough: set the quality to 480p if you're going to stream with Elgato (or whatever) and your download speed is less than 10Mbps. My computer can handle this fairly easily. When streaming, it only uses about 25% of my CPU, and that's with my twitching (paused) thread in the background. If you have an i3 processor or better with 2GB of RAM you should be fine. The Elgato stuff has a HORRIBLE 2 second lag in general, so I'm only giving it 4 stars. This delay is perhaps the worst part. It's even WORSE when you're live streaming, as Twitch usually has an auto delay of 2-3 seconds anyway. So your broadcast quality will suck if you use Elgato to stream. We are talking about a delay of 5 and sometimes even TEN seconds lol. Hooking it up is easy, and it's nice to know that the Elgato isn't a huge block like most capture cards, even the newer ones from the 2010s. If you're like me and happen to stream and record something from time to time, get this. It's very easy to use, it doesn't need any special software (OBS works with it without a problem) and if you have good internet speed and a powerful PC , you get HD quality (600-720p, you need Elgato HD60 for that). 1080 and above) this is easy.
