I am a professional photographer and I was very excited to buy this camera! Initially, I was very impressed with the image quality, exceptional low-light performance, and pro-level feature set. Stunning ergonomics (typical of Nikon DSLRs) and full manual control - with live preview, aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation in live view video. This is a GREAT camera for video lovers or professionals. Be aware that some reviews mention moiré patterns that sometimes appear during video or photography, which I haven't noticed yet, but I don't expect it to be a deal breaker based on what I've seen. The D800 focuses easily in very low light, and its high ISO noise and color reproduction put it among the best cameras from any manufacturer at any price point. It has a maximum shutter speed of 1/8000, flash sync up to 1/250 and an exceptional level of customization via menus and function buttons, an improvement over the D600, which is almost on par in image quality. The only real downside to the D800 is the huge files. The resolution is really too high for most users. A RAW file weighs around 50MB!
