Review on Stephen Joseph Sidekick Backpack Coloring by Jill Lawrence

Pretty but has a few downsides

I bought this backpack and lunch box for my 3 year old for kindergarten. The size is good. Big enough for a binder (unlike some baby backpacks like SkipHop which don't fit in a binder) but not so big that it looks ridiculous on her small body! It doesn't look as good as the Skip Hop backpack (which I bought as a spare). But it's cute and the quality is good enough that I think it will last her the rest of her preschool years. A couple of negatives I noticed: The cup holder on the side is too narrow for your water bottle. I use Contigo water bottles and need to plug them into the mesh. I'm afraid it will break over time. When you close the backpack, the zipper ends on the same side as the water bottle, making it difficult to close or open the zipper. Not that big of a problem, but it would be wiser to go the other way. Finally, I don't like how the lunch box is divided into two separate compartments. I have plastic bento boxes that I like to pack my kids lunch in, but unfortunately they don't fit because the lunch box is shared. But overall this is a decent quality backpack and lunch box. The price is fair. And it's cute!

Pros
  • Lunchbox is fully lined and insulated, free from BPA and PHTHALATES. Has 2 separate compartments for plenty of space. A large compartment at the top and a smaller one at the bottom. A kid-friendly and fun way to enjoy lunch. Keeps food fresh and prevents crushing.
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
