There's a trick to snapping open the big lids!
At first I struggled with large tanks. I couldn't force the lids onto the containers. But then I read the instructions. It says to use your palms to slide the covers back into place. It's crazy, but it works like a charm. Place the trash can on the counter, place the lid on top, and then use your whole hand (not your fingers) to gently snap the side clips into place. Now that I can easily seal the large containers, I really like them and have even bought another set. They are the perfect size for our shallow pantry. Large baskets are great for bakers as they can store flour and sugar which can be easily and cleanly removed in tall, thin baskets.
