Temperature display is rarely updated, 308S is the best option for aquariums

Currently (October 2020) there are three InkBird controllers with aquarium sensors. I've tried 306, this 306A (Wi-Fi) and 308S in my fresh and salt water tanks. The 308S model is best suited for aquariums. The temperature display on the 306 and 306A almost never changes. It can track the internal temperature as it changes, but if the display doesn't update I don't trust it. While the 306A's Wi-Fi capability is good, it has an annoying alarm clock feature that makes it unusable for my use. Gates. I use heaters with internal thermostats in combination with InkBird so I have two levels of protection. I set the InkBird's target temperature slightly higher than the heater's target temperature so that it stops the runaway heater. In any other situation I would like the InkBird to continue to power the heaters. However, the 306A will alarm if the water temperature does not reach the 306A's set point after a user selected time between 1 and 72 hours. It is not possible to disable this feature. The 308S' temperature reading often changes by 0.1 degrees when the water temperature changes, so it's clear that it's actively monitoring the temperature. It will sound an alarm at any cold/hot temperature you set, but it doesn't have the annoying time/alarm feature. It also has a removable temperature sensor that can be easily swapped out. The downsides are that it doesn't have Wi-Fi functionality and the maximum sensitivity for target temperature settings is 1.0 degrees (instead of 0.1 degrees on others). The temperature can be calibrated up or down if the reading is inaccurate. The 308S is also designed for heating and cooling applications. I use it in conjunction with a heater and fan for an aquarium. With others, I don't use the cooling function, but connect two heaters to the "Heat" output using an adapter.
