First of all, this game is fun. This is a dice version of the deck building battle game (as in Star Realms or other Realms games). To be perfectly honest, I like it a little more than a regular deck builder. The game is clean, the cards are generally clear and you can roll a lot! The starter kit is good for getting started, but the real fun is buying booster packs. And I have to admit that the boosters are pretty awesome. First, there's something about boosters that takes me back to when I was in elementary school. Head to the corner store and buy baseball tickets and pale kids. Opening packs allows you to obtain the cards that will bring you closer to completing your collection. And Dicemaster Boosters aren't just an old collection of cards. That includes bones! It's like a deck of cards and a cracker prize. So why such a low rating? Well, what I like most about Dice Masters is what saddens me the most. Booster. I bought a pack of 10 boosters. Excited to see what I would get. I open the first pack: wow, two new characters and one dice each! I open the next pack: two new characters again. Next pack: two new characters again. I open the last pack: I understand that I have a lot of new characters and it's great. But I only have one die for most of them, which sucks. why does it suck Without going into the rules of the game, I'll just say that you really need at least 2 dice per character. Ideally you need 3 or 4 dice per character. After opening 10 boosters, I had: * 12 characters with one die * 2 characters with two dice * 1 character with 3 dice * 1 action with one die So, out of all these boosters, I got 1 character with the perfect number of dice and 2 exactly how much to play. I quickly realized that if you want to build a team, you have to buy a lot of boosters. Oh how I wish you could get one character per booster with enough dice! Boosters are pretty cheap, but you need to roll at least $50 to get enough dice for a tournament team. That amount of money is nothing for most CCG (Collectible Card Game) players, but it puts Craps in a different price range than regular table games.
