I have an 04 F150 with a hard case in the back and I can't see anything under 4ft or so on the back of the truck so I felt like installing a backup camera would also help with hitching one up trailer. I thought long and hard about which camera to buy and decided on this one. There weren't any reviews back then, so I took a chance. I'm glad I did, the CCD camera is very clear and has a nice wide angle of view. It also adjusts up and down so it can be used for a trailer. The bumper on the Ford has a step where the license plate goes and the camera frame barely fits as it's slightly taller to match the existing mounting holes, but it snapped into my setup with little effort. I think you could remove something below if you have to. Installation is easy, just bolt on and run a cable to the cab. The wire was long enough to reach the front of my truck, it has a 145 inch wheelbase, and I ran the wire through the firewall. I had maybe 2 feet of extra wire. So if you have a long bed crew you'll need to find a spacer to somehow shorten or splice the cables. BTW the F150 has brake line mounts that go down the driver's side of the frame and they have a free cable slot so it It took only a few minutes to install the cable to the front. I hooked it up to a Pioneer head unit and the picture is very clear and bright. I tried it in low light and it was good there too. What I like most is that it blends into the look of the truck so it's barely noticeable. So far no problems in a week, I will update if anything changes. Will definitely buy again. Update 6/2014 I've had this for a few years now and it's still working great BUT I've had a bit of bad luck so thought I'd comment. I believe this applies to all of these cameras (I have installed 3 different makes. The wires are tiny and brittle so if you have a fault check all the connections. This has a connector with the wires soldered to it at the factory, and here's mine came out I unplugged it and connected the wires together and it works fine again.Same thing happened with another brand on a different setup. The wire is about the size of a sewing needle.Otherwise a good product.
