Review on Emerson Ceiling CF784GES Adaptable Espresso by Trian Wright

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Whisper quiet, powerful air movement

I installed this fan myself in our living room and replaced the existing fan with a lightweight kit. I have fairly low ceilings (about 7ft 10in) so fan depth was an issue for me. [Some have pointed out that the first image on the product page shows a much longer lower stem than what is included in the kit. Actual size is 4.5" and other photos are more representative than the above] The specs say it is 19.1" deep, but this must include the fan circuit as my post-install vertical depth measurement is under 14.5". from the ceiling to the bottom of the fan. In short, it fits perfectly with my ceiling and living room. I plan to add the lighting kit later and will update the review then, but for now I'm happy with the fan. It's whisper quiet in all conditions (another cheaper brand I recently installed in a bedroom has a loud electrical hum - quality matters!) and has great air movement. Huge improvement in air handling - my old fan was 52 inches. My only installation mistake was trying to leave the old H-Bracket on top from the previous fan, thinking the threaded tubing for this fan would fit on the top cover of the electrical box. I was wrong and had to change the braces in the very last step. If you're replacing an existing installation, check that the small threaded nipples screw all the way into the bracket, or just make sure you're using the new bracket provided. Unlike most of the last couple of ceiling fan installations I've made where the instructions tell you to mount the fan from the ceiling down, this kit tells you to almost completely assemble the fan before hanging it on the sphere . I did this and found it much easier to work with the fan propped up neatly in the styrofoam cavity above the box - careful to protect the blades from any weight. The assembly went smoothly, all parts fit together easily. It was much easier than working on the head. One detail I have to mention is a tiny scratch, about 1/4 inch, on one of the blades when I unpacked the box. Unfortunately it was on the cherry side of the blade I was using. However, I got it for free for testing purposes. Overall we are very happy with the looks and performance of this Emerson!
