Review on πŸ”ͺ SKIL 75540: The Ultimate 4-3/8-Inch Carbide Flooring Blade by Robert Diaz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Reliable performance, works well, good amperage, super dirty.

I'm an interior fitter and also work with hardwood. well finished wood. I have a friend who has this and has had it for years. I've never used it personally, but I've seen it in passing at his work. He's had it for 5 years or so. I'm always looking for ways to save time and improve the performance of my websites. I bought this saw so I wouldn't have to offload my table saw and 12x miter saw. I always buy quality tools and price is never an issue so when I bought this Skil brand saw straight away I thought it was cheap. Here are the details of the first use. You can also check out my video review. The saw is well packaged, I would call it standard packaging for this type of product. Opening and unpacking is a simple task. This saw comes fully assembled except for the installation of a dust bag. At first glance, it makes a solid and robust impression. The saw itself has a cheap plastic case over the motor, but that doesn't seem to detract from the unit. The table rail is where you get the most out of this saw. The guide is mounted on the side of the motor for slotting. It has a mark, and to adjust it it is enough to turn the knob of your finger. If, after several cuts, the table is immediately covered with dust, the guide will not slide at all, making it difficult to quickly adjust. I think I'll spray on some dry lube and see if that helps. I ran the cuts finished side up and the cut was clean. The shavings were minimal, actually enough to cover the baseboard. The guide moves to the front of the machine and can be used for cross cuts and bevel cuts. There are preset stops for 90, 45, and 22 1/2. It works smoothly and well. When I cut my board it cuts fine. Minimal chipping. Good enough as long as it's not attached to a finished ladder bar or something. The biggest problem was when we used it for bevel cutting. With my board up, it splintered very badly on my board. When I put the board face down it didn't happen. We need to cut our miters right side down. The only downside is that it's messy. B 4 cuts dust everywhere. We need to find a way to contain dust or it will just be an outside saw. Verdict. it is a keeper. As cheap as it is, I don't think we can beat the time it will save us. It doesn't stick and cuts in all directions, which usually requires 2 saws. I hope it has good longevity. We'll know better next week when we make 4,000 feet of wood with it.
