I must have gotten the "lemon" as the mostly positive reviews made me buy this product. However, the ice cream never froze, not even to a "soft serve" consistency. It's no fun disappointing family while we're waiting for ice cream. I have frozen the bowl for over 24 hours, giving the bowl ample time to freeze. I also followed the directions and shocked the bowl to make sure it was properly frozen. The thing spun for almost an hour and the mixture never thickened. The mixture was pretty cold when I put it in the machine, so not at room temperature but from the fridge. I tried to follow the directions exactly, but the ingredients are overpriced compared to the cost of the machine, so I had to experiment to learn how to use a simple machine. I think we'll continue to use our trusty old-style ice cream maker that uses salt and ice, or I can get an ice cream maker attachment for our Kitchen Aid blender. - 30 minutes as advertised.
