This case perfectly protects your phone from all sides, sides, front and back. This one without a screen protector is better as I used to have one with a built in screen protector but the fingerprint scanner didn't work! I'm happy to report that it's working again with this case and the case itself offers much better protection. The rubber around the edges is really strong and tough, thick in all the right places and definitely soft, especially in the corners and even on the back of the phone. The front and back metal parts of the case are solid and not flimsy and twisted so the back is screwed down to make it really secure. The only downside is that this phone case feels quite heavy and affects its overall size, but I'm still very impressed with the protective features and happily give it 5 stars overall.
