Review on Capture Editing Software Cassette Recorder by Scott Pentapati

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good quality. Ease of use is suspicious (sorry)

First, if you get this device to work with all your computers, the quality will be excellent. but that's IF you make it work. I purchased this item to use for live streaming my Bible studies. I had piano music that I recorded live on my phone. I wanted to stream this music from my phone as background music. So I needed a USB capture card that would allow me to plug a 3.5mm cable into my phone's headphone jack and then connect the capture device to my computer via the USB port. Sound easy? Well, it depends on the computer. When I bought this item I used it on about 2-3 different computers (2011, 2013, 2014). The 2011 computer had USB 2.0 ports while the other two had USB 3.0 ports. All devices worked fine and recognized the device as a USB PnP audio device. Then I discovered that I needed a new computer this year. I have one with USB 3.0 ports. That's when the problem arose. When I tried to use the item on this computer, it recognized it as an array of microphones (6-Intel Smartsound). It took me two or three days to figure out how to get this thing to work using the same software I used as a clock on my other computers. Why does this device work so well and easily with my old USB 3.0 devices, but with the new device I'm having a lot of trouble doing the same? So I have to lower my rating. I need a device that will work well on all my computers because depending on where I work, they may not be the same computer. I wouldn't recommend it for that reason, although once you get it working the sound is great. IF.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
