Descriptions are misleading, so are questions. The platform does not tip up or down or rotate, the platform is bolted to a fixed position and you must unscrew the device to get 360 degree rotation. There's no flexibility to tilt the platform unless you adjust the height of the legs, which can be a lot harder to align your projector to the screen than a simple ball joint on the base that can be adjusted. Overall the product is strong enough to support my projector and will work well for its intended purpose. All retractable arms have locks to prevent things from falling.
