Three shift keys and only two work?

The keyboard itself is awesome, but the right Shift key is split into two separate Shift keys for reasons I don't understand, making it more awkward to press the Shift key. My computer can't tell the difference between the keys, so it's useless. What happened? Why would anyone need three shift keys? In addition, the keyboard is quite comfortable. The keys aren't super clicky, but they're not annoyingly thin or unresponsive either. I love the small size. For me it would be the perfect keyboard if it didn't have this weird feature.
