I bought this humidifier for my bedroom - it dries up a lot in winter, which leads to poor sleep and nightly cough is suitable. This humidifier has some really good features, but unfortunately it can't tell when the room has reached the ideal humidity level. Pros: It is very attractive and very easy to assemble and disassemble. It has dishwasher safe parts! I also LOVE the fact that you don't need a filter for this. I go through filters very quickly on my other humidifiers and (like printer ink) they tend to be ridiculously marked. It's also easy to carry without spilling anything. And the white noise it makes despite being quite loud puts me at ease. I always sleep with a fan or something just for the noise and this humidifier makes a nice clean buzzing white noise with no jitter or harshness that bothers me. The Bad: I installed it in my bedroom with the doors closed. I also have a Nest-type thermostat with little stations in my frequently used rooms that read temperature and humidity. I checked my readings and when I turned on the humidifier it read 30%. I set the humidifier to 40% and it quickly produced a ton of hot vapor (great heat up time!) and in about 12 minutes the display on the Nest rose to 48% humidity - very high! I left the humidifier on to see if it would auto shut off, but after another 12 minutes the humidity was up to 55% and it was STILL running and putting out an absolute ton of hot vapor. It became like a sauna in my bedroom. I turned off the humidifier and then turned it back down to 30%, after which it continued to produce vapor. I've noticed that at 30 it sometimes turns the fan off for a few minutes and then turns it back on. . The room never went below 50% with the humidifier running (I checked 3 times, over a period of about 4.5 hours). This means the sensor is detecting MUCH less moisture than there is, which is a problem - I don't want to sleep in the sauna. I left it on cold steam overnight, and interestingly the fan stayed on even when the car ran out of water. This doesn't bother me because I want the fan to keep running due to white noise, but it does annoy me that the fan shut down when it (obviously) detected the humidity was high and there was still water in the tank. If the fan stays on, just control the moisture output and don't subject me to the constant on and off noise. This machine is definitely missing a "fan only" or "low power" setting - the humidity setting doesn't go below 30% and the tank DOES NOT HOLD enough water to run in this mode all night! must be a good humidifier: - Fan only or low power level - Constant fan even when no steam is coming out - Large tank so it doesn't go out at the lowest level overnight (8 hours) - Accurate humidity meter! !- Dimmable LED - now it's so bright it looks more like a night light.
